How to Replace the Radio on a 2003 GMC Envoy

    • 1). Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws around the Envoy's dashboard. There is one screw in front of the steering wheel and two on either side of the steering wheel column. Slightly pull away the dash and unscrew the hidden screw under the steering wheel, releasing both the lower and upper dash. Carefully pull away the dashboard surrounding the radio and set it aside.

    • 2). Remove the two bolts on the left and right sides of the radio using a 7mm ratchet. Pull out the radio and unplug the black cable and wire harness from the back of it.

    • 3). For a factory radio: Plug the black cable and wire harness into the back of the new radio and slide it into the radio slot. Replace the bolts around it. Reattach the dash and replace the screws you removed.

    • 4). For a non-factory radio: Affix the radio bracket over the vehicle's radio slot by screwing the two screws into the left and right sides of the bracket with the Phillips screwdriver. This lines up with the bolts you removed in Step 2. Plug the wire harness adapter into the vehicle's wire harness and into the back of the radio. Plug the black cable into the back of the new radio and slide it into the radio slot. Reattach the dash and replace the screws you removed.
