- 1). Disconnect the negative battery cable from the Honda Civic battery by loosening the cable's clamp with the 10-millimeter wrench.
- 2). Grab the metal ring just below the gear selector knob, and move it down the shaft of the shifter.
- 3). Twist and remove the knob of the gear shifter.
- 4). Place the trim panel tool in the crease formed by the gear shifter panel and the center console dash panel. Pry the panel free from the dashboard with the trim panel removal tool.
- 5). Remove the two screws at the bottom corners of the stereo mounting bracket with a Philips-head screwdriver.
- 6). Remove the two bolts on either side of the stereo mounting dock with an 8-millimeter socket and drive.
- 7). Pull the entire center stereo assembly away from the dashboard. Disconnect the wiring connected to the back of the radio. Remove the two screws on either side of the stereo mounting bracket that hold the stereo into place. Slide the stereo from the bracket.
- 8). Connect the Honda stereo wiring to a wiring harness adapter. Connect the wiring harness adapter leads to an aftermarket stereo. Slide the aftermarket stereo into the stereo mounting bracket. Replace the two screws on either side of the bracket with the Philips-head screwdriver.
- 9). Replace the stereo mounting bracket into the dashboard of the Civic. Replace the two 8-millimeter bolts on either side of the center dash panel. Press around the perimeter of the dash panel to snap it back into place.

Replace the two screws at the bottom of the center dash panel with a Philips-head screwdriver. - 11
Place the gear shifter panel of the gear selector opening and press evenly around the perimeter to snap the panel back into place. - 12
Screw on the gear selector lever knob. Reconnect the metal ring on the lever shaft with the knob of that gear shifter. - 13
Replace a negative battery cable clamp onto the negative battery lead post. Tighten the clamp onto the post with a 10-millimeter wrench.
