How to Install a Car Laptop Mount

    • 1). Remove the front passenger seat, unscrewing the nuts with a wrench and lifting the seat off the bolts and out of the car.

    • 2). Install the base of the mount on the floorboard of the car, inserting the mount holes onto the front bolts used for the seat you removed. Many mounts have multiple holes to allow installation for any seat size.

    • 3). Reinstall the front passenger seat, placing the seat's front brackets over the mount's base and replacing and tightening the nuts.

    • 4). Connect the pole to the base; you may need to assemble the pole, which can include connecting washers at both ends and connecting two rods or tubes together with wedges and springs. The top portion of the pole is often thicker than the bottom.

    • 5). Attach the swivel arm to the pole, sliding the arm onto the top end of the pole and securing it with the plastic knob at the very top, which twists down onto the arm.

    • 6). Connect the laptop tray to the arm; the component connecting these two parts is often a swivel knob you screw onto the tray's underside. Insert the knob into the hole at the end of the arm.
