- 1). Place your foot on the brake and put the key in the ignition. Turn the key to the "on" position, then put the car in the lowest gear possible. Tilt down the steering column as well.
- 2). Pull off the bezel that surrounds the gauges and the stereo. The bezel is held in place with clips, and pulls off easily with a little bit of effort. Once it's out, put the truck back in park.
- 3). Using your thumbs, press the clips that hold the stereo in the dash and pull the stock stereo out of place. Unplug the wiring harness and antenna from the back of the stereo.
- 4). Place the cage that comes with the Dual head unit inside the dash kit. Then push the tabs on the cage in, using the flat-head screwdriver. This will secure the cage to the dash kit. Then push the dash kit into the dashboard until it clips in place.
- 5). Wire the aftermarket wiring harness to the harness that comes with the Dual receiver, using the wire strippers, wire crimpers, wire cutters and blue butt connectors. Car stereo companies have paired up with vehicle-specific wiring harness companies, to make sure that all of the wiring colors match. Each wire is also labeled, so that makes it even easier. Place one wire into the blue butt connector and crimp it in place with the wire crimpers. Then crimp the corresponding wire onto the other side of the butt connector. Repeat this process until all of the wires are connected.
- 6). Plug the vehicle-specific wiring harness onto the dashboard wiring harness, using your hands. Plug the factory antenna into the GM antenna adaptor as well, then slide both the antenna adaptor and the wiring harness through the cage.
- 7). Plug the Dual harness into the back of the CD player, then plug the antenna adaptor into the back of the CD player as well.
- 8). Push the CD player into the cage until it clicks in place.
- 9). Reassemble the dash bezel in the opposite order it was removed.
