- The Nook application on the iPhone has many of the features available on the Nook, including the ability to lend books from your account to a friend’s account. Lent books are available in your friend’s account for 14 days, after which it is deleted from your friend’s device. Your friend can receive the book if they have a Nook or a Nook application for their iPhone, Android device, iPad or computer, as long as your friend has an active Barnes & Noble account with a valid credit card attached to it.
- Not all Nook books are available for sharing between two accounts. Publishers determine whether a book is available for sharing. An icon appears on a book in your library that is available for sharing that says “Lendable.” You can only lend a book once to another person, and you can’t lend books that you’re borrowing from someone else. Once the book is accepted by the recipient, you can’t read the book until it is returned to your account 14 days later. If the book is not accepted by the recipient, you can still lend it to one other person. You can’t retract a lending offer once it is made.
- Open the Nook application on your iPhone and then open the book you want to lend. Touch the screen to view the book menu and tap the “i” icon at the upper right corner of the screen. A screen with details about the book appears. Tap “LendMe” at the bottom of the screen and then tap the “To” text box. Type the email address of the recipient and then tap “Send.”
- You need to accept a lent book request to borrow the book from your friend. A message appears in your Nook library that you have received a lent book. Select “Yes” to borrow the book from your friend. The cover of the book appears in your library with a Download button underneath it. Select “Download” to download the book to your Nook or the device running the Nook application.
