- 1). Sign in to your Gmail account on a computer. Click "Settings" at the top of any Gmail page. Select "Forwarding and POP/IMAP." Choose "Enable IMAP." Click "Save Changes."
- 2). Press "Sleep/Wake" at the top right of the iPhone. Slide the slider to go to the home screen. Tap "Settings" to go to a new screen.
- 3). Tap on the "Mail, Contacts and Calendar." Click "Add Account." Select "Other."
- 4). Select "Add Mail Account." Enter your Gmail account information, including user name and password. Tap "Save."
- 5). Enter "imap.gmail.com" in the "Host Name" column on your iPhone. Fill in the "User Name" and "Password" dialogue boxes. Tap "Save."
- 6). Enter "smtp.gmail.com" in the "Host Name" column. Enter your information in the "User Name" and "Password" sections. Tap "Save" to complete setting up Gmail on the iPhone.
- 7). Tap the button at the upper left corner of your iPhone's screen to go back until you come to the "Mail, Contacts and Calendar" screen. Tap your Gmail email address that is in the "Accounts" list. Tap the "On" button in the new screen to make the Gmail account active on the iPhone's "Mail" program. Click "Home." Tap the "Mail" icon at the bottom of the screen to download Gmail emails to the iPhone's "Mail" program.
