- 1). Avoid twisting your cable each time you pick up your clippers. Always lay your clippers flat on a work surface and pay attention to the way you handle them when you're using them to groom. Try not to rotate them into position when cutting hair and be sure to place them down without twisting the cable after each use. Repeatedly rotating your cable will result in tangles forming. If you find that you need to twist your clipper's cables while working, use an extension cable to allow yourself more room.
- 2). Untwist your clippers after each use. It's inevitable that some twisting will occur while you're working. To avoid these twists developing into nasty tangles after you put your clippers away, hold the clippers aloft and allow the weight of the plug to untwist your cable naturally. Avoid holding the plug and allowing the weight of the clippers to force your cable to untwist, as doing so could result in your cable's connections loosening.
- 3). Wrap your clipper's cable in a neat bundle before storing and secure with a rubber band. Your clipper's cable can develop tangles in storage between uses if it's been twisted repeatedly and is frequently disturbed. Use a second rubber band to secure the bundle of cables to the body of the clippers for extra protection against tangling.
