Judy Reinen – whose adorably uproarious photo accompanies my grooming article – is renowned throughout the world for her delightfully zany pet photographs.
Although this avid animal lover aspired to be a veterinarian when she was growing up in her native New Zealand, she was inspired by her scenic photographer dad to pursue a career behind the camera, starting with equestrian picture taking.

This resulted in a highly successful career during which she has won international acclaim, including the prestigious Henry honor in the Best Photographic Range category at the 1999 United Kingdom Greeting Cards Industry awards.Reinen, who additionally operates a wedding photography business called Creative Shotz along with her husband, Olaf, also was featured on the PBS show “Pets – Part of the Family” in 2000.Her delightful images of dogs and cats now appear on a variety of licensed products, from bed linens to calendars.She claims she owes her success to her ability to put pets (and people) at ease, and her sense of fun, which is reflected in her work.I hope you enjoy these photos.
