There are quite a few fun gift ideas from which to choose if you're getting something special for your dog on Valentine's Day. Here are four quick ideas:
1. Cute Clothes
Yes, my dog Bolt is a boy, but that doesn't mean I don't dress him up in cute clothes, even if they're more suited for females. If Lassie could be played by a male dog, then Bolt can dress up in a Valentine's Day outfit.
You can see him in an adorable dress in the accompanying photo. It was provided by Petco, which also has other fun doggy dress-up items for the holiday.
If you don't want to get something quite so ostentatious, you can opt for clothing that has a more practical use. For example, Bolt is half Chihuahua, and he inherited the breed's low tolerance for the cold. Get something to cute to protect your pup, like a Duck Dynasty coat. The coat and other products linked to the show are available at Petco.
2. Toys
Valentine's Day themed toys are always a big hit because your dog can enjoy them on the holiday and for quite a long time afterward.
Bolt loves his toys, and even though he's a little guy, he usually manages to rip up his favorites with a few weeks of rough play. That means his Christmas toys are already battered and bruised, and he's ready for some new ones for Valentine's Day.
He got a nice selection from Petco as a gift, which you can see in the photo. The different styles mean you'll easily find something to match your pet's personality.
3. Treats
Humans loves to get a heart-shaped box brimming with chocolates on Valentine's Day, and dogs feel the same way. Of course, they have to skip the chocolate, since it's lethal for them, but that doesn't mean there aren't plenty of treats to make your canine companion feel loved.
Bolt loves a wide variety of goodies, but this year he's getting some Snausages for Valentine's Day. They fit in well with the holiday because they have a special Pooch Picnic limited edition variety. It's a nice reminder that spring is just ahead, even if you're in a part of the country where winter still has a stronghold in mid-February.
4. Deodorant and Perfume
Your dog doesn't have to actually smell like a dog. Perfumes for pups are very popular lately, and they give your best friend a pleasant aroma.
You can also buy doggy deodorant that makes your pooch smell nice and fresh while conditioning his coat at the same time. I like to use Wahl's all natural Doggy Deodorant because I enjoy the spearmint and eucalyptus scent. It also adds natural oils to the skin and coat.
A sprinkling of scent, is the perfect way to get your pup ready for a Valentine's Day “date” at the dog park or a doggy play date with friends.
5. A Toaster
Panega Brands makes adorable toasters that add a pattern of your favorite breed to your toast. Yes, this is more of a human gift than a dog one, but it's the perfect way to pay homage to your favorite breed.
You can also get a version that emblazons a bone and paws on your bread. The toasters are black to go with just about any decor, with either the dog breed or "I Heart My Dog" emblazoned on the front. They're available from the company's website and cost around $35.
