Petco Star Wars Toys are a Galaxy of Fun for Dogs

I enjoy themed dog toys, costumes, and other products. Bolt has reviewed everything from Duck Dynasty clothes and playthings to cute Disney costumes. Thus I was quite excited when a package arrived from Petco with a delivery that had apparently started its journey long ago, in a galaxy far, far away: Star Wars toys and other goodies.

Delivery From a Galaxy Far, Far Away

Bolt loves toys, and even though he's a small dog, he's very hard on them.

I'm always looking for a new plaything that appeals to him and that will keep his attention, although so far nothing has matched his Go Dog platypus that help up for nearly a year.

He immediately chose two toys out of the Star Wars goodies: a plushy Han Solo and a rugged X-wing fighter tug toy. Both of them were quickly incorporated into our play routine.

Bolt Finds a Favorite

Sadly, poor Han Solo was a victim of Bolt's sharp little teeth within a week. He gave way at the seam of his head and starting losing stuffing. I could have resewed him, but I decided it wasn't necessary because the X-wing fighter was holding up to all the abuse by Doggy from the Darkside could dish out.

I love the X-wing fighter because it works as both a fetch toy and tug toy. Bolt loves tug of war, and he also wants to chase his toy in between vigorous tug rounds. The X-wing fighter gets a lot of use as I toss it down the hall and he gamely returns it to me, only to go through a head shaking, jaw clamping tug routine before he'll relinquish it.

It's been use a lot since its arrival, yet it isn't showing any signs of wear, and I suspect it will be around for a long time.

Cosplay for Dogs

Two other notable products to mention are the Death Star pull toy and the Slave Leia dog harness. The Death Star is a great option for larger dogs who love to tug and fetch. Not only is it large and durable, but it also has several smaller toys stashed inside. It's durable like the X-wing fighter, so it's a great addition to a rough dog's toy box.

The Slave Leia harness is one of several different Star Wars harness styles. They're all cute, but of course Slave Leia from "Return of the Jedi" has taken on iconic status. Why let the human cosplayers have all the fun when your dog can do a little Star Wars tribute while you're out walking?

These are just a few examples of Petco's overall Star Wars product line, which you can find online or in their stores. Online ordering is handy and often involves discounts, but I prefer shopping in person so I can see the products for myself before buying. Well-behaved dogs are always welcome in Petco stores, so you can bring your canine buddy along and let him pick his own favorite toy.

The next Star Wars movie might not be due for release until 2015, but you can have plenty of intergalactic fun with your dog in the meantime.
