Rawhide Brand Beef Hide Dog Chews Review

I have two objectives for my dog, Bolt: to keep him happy and to keep him healthy. The first objective is easy to fulfill. He thrives of petting, treats, toys, and love. The second one takes a little planning, but I'm careful about what I feed him, and I watch the goodies, too. He loves things that can make him pudgy, like bully sticks, so I limit those and steer him towards healthier snacks.

I also like treats that have some extra added health benefits, like Milk Bone Dental Chews, that taste good and help keep his teeth clean.

Thus I was pleased to try out Rawhide Brand Beef Hide Dog Chews, since they're good for dogs who love to chomp and chew, and they also give a dose of glucosamine.

Granted, Bolt is only around two years old, but he's half dachshund, so he has a long body. He could get back problems down the road, so I like to be proactive. I know that glucosamine is supposed to be beneficial for that sort of thing, so I was pleased to see that the Rawhide Brand Beef Hide Dog Chews provide this supplement.

Keeps Dogs Occupied

I got a nice, big sample chew when I was at Global Pet Expo earlier this year. I prefer large sizes because even though Bolt is only 13 pounds, he has the jaws of a much bigger dog. He's a powerful chewer who quickly destroys any toy that's not well made, which is a big reason I prefer durable brands like Go Dog Tough Toys. He also makes short work of most chew treats, so I prefer those that are large enough to keep him occupied for more than a few minutes.

I presented Bolt with the Rawhide Brand Beef Hide Dog Chew, and he immediately grabbed his giant prize and ran off for the couch.

I know it's supposed to be flavored, but often he loses interest in chews within a short period of time. Not this one!  It was large enough and tasty enough to keep him occupied until he wore himself out and took a nap.

There was still plenty of chew left since it's so large, and Bolt started playing with it every day. I was amazed that it lasted so long, and also that it maintained his interest. I gave him other goodies, but he always went back to the Rawhide Brand Beef Hide Dog Chew until he finally mangled it so badly that I threw it away. It literally took a couple of weeks for that to happen, and hopefully he got some good doses of glucosamine in the meantime.

No China Worries

This chew got Bolt's seal of approval, but it takes a little more to win me over. First and foremost, I made sure that it didn't come from China, as I don't like to take chances with my pet's health. I was pleased to learn that all Rawhide Brand dog chews come in traceable lots. If there were ever a problem, the source could easily be tracked down. I think that's one of the worst things about the Chinese pet treat problems; thousands of pets have gotten sick, and so many have died, yet no one knows the cause. I like a company that doesn't deal with China and that has a thorough tracking process.

Of course, Bolt doesn't care about any of that. He trusts me to make sure that his treats are safe and tasty. I know he enjoyed the many days of noshing on his Rawhide Brand Beef Hide Dog Chew, and it's on my preferred list of doggy treats that can stand up to his powerful little jaws.

The company makes a variety of dog treats. You can find them online and in pet stores.
