Things You'll Need
Instructions
1Sweep or dust mop the floor frequently. This stops dirt from getting ground into the floor, necessitating a deeper cleaning.
2
Clean up spills immediately with a damp cloth.
3
Consider having a no-shoes policy in the house to keep the hardwood floors cleaner. Not only do shoes track in dirt, but they also grind it into the floor, necessitating more frequent mopping.
4
Mix white vinegar with water. Add about 1/2 cup of vinegar to every gallon of water you use.
5
Wet a mop or cloth in the mixture.
6
Wring the mop out so that it is just slightly damp.
7
Mop the floor, being sure to get the entire surface.
8
Wring the mop out, wet it, and wring it out again whenever it gets dirty.
9
Allow the floor to air dry.
