Things You'll Need
Instructions
1Use a vacuum with a nozzle to remove the dirt and loose residue inside the cabinet and shelving. Pay particular attention to corners and side grooves, where buildup of dirt and residue can occur.
2
Use rubbing alcohol on a clean cloth to remove any buildup of oil, grease and dirt that is on the surface. You would want to get this off first. Rubbing alcohol is inexpensive and works wonderfully on removing greasy grime and dries quickly without leaving a residue.
3
Use very fine steel wool to gently remove rust spots or areas. Find a rust area inside the cabinet to begin with to determine your results. Remember, a light touch will give less potential damage to the surface.
4
Wash the entire cabinet, inside and out, with soapy water and a clean cloth, then rinse with clean water. Use a hair dryer to ensure that all cracks, crevices and corners are completely dry.
5
Apply a thin coat of car wax, following the label instructions, to protect the metal cabinet and make the next cleaning easier. This is an optional step, but will keep your metal cabinet shining like new.
