I'm Joe Pepe and today I'm going to explain how to use dumbbells to exercise your core. Everyone knows planks, six inches, they know how to do a crunch. Today we're going to put a little bit more of an advanced movement to it by adding a dumbbell to the crunch. So the crunch is a basic movement with your feet flat, knees bent back on the floor. You want to keep your chin up, keep your breathing proper and make sure you are coming one vertebra at a time as you lift yourself with your spine. Now the only difference is this time we're going to press our arms straight ahead of us, we're going to keep our palms facing out away from our face and we're going to keep them weights in the air the entire time. That's going to add extra resistance to the movement, therefore, developing the muscle just a little bit more for you. By using these dumbbells in this movement, you're going to add a little bit of resistance to your abdominal movements.
