- 1). Sprinkle some powdered sugar over a clean, flat surface. The powdered sugar will keep the fondant from sticking to the surface when you roll it out. It is better to use sugar rather than flour or cornstarch because it will taste good when the fondant cat paw prints are eaten.
- 2). Turn your premade, pre-dyed fondant out onto the powdered sugar-dusted surface. Rub your rolling pin with powdered sugar as well.
- 3). Roll out your mound of fondant, starting in the middle and slowly working your way out to the edges. Reapply the powdered sugar if the fondant begins sticking to either the surface or the rolling pin. Keep rolling out the fondant until it is about 1/8 inch thick all over.
- 4). Press a large round cookie cutter into the fondant, and lift it away. This will create the center of the cat paw print.
- 5). Press a smaller round cookie cutter into the fondant, and lift the small circle away. Repeat this 3 more times to create the paw's 4 toes.
- 6). Lay the large part of the kitty's paw onto the cake or cupcake that you are decorating. Lay the 4 toes around the top half of the circle to finish creating the paw.
