- 1). Look for an outdoor location that is in full shade but has dry soil conditions. You can also opt for partially shady locations such as under large shrubs or near buildings.
- 2). Dig holes that are only as deep as the lamium roots and insert the roots into the hole. Backfill the hole and firm the soil with your hands. Plant each lamium plant at least 12 inches apart. As the plants mature, they will fill in the bare areas to create a continuous expanse of foliage.
- 3). Water the soil well for the first two to three days to prevent transplant shock. Afterward, reduce watering to only when the soil is dry to the touch. After the plants begin to exhibit new leaf growth, they can endure short periods of drought.
