    • 2). Insert the OS X startup disk included with the iBook into the CD or DVD-ROM drive.

    • 3). Restart the iBook while pressing and holding the "C" key on the computer's keyboard. Release the "C" key once the iBook finishes booting from the startup disk.

    • 4). Choose "English" or your preferred language when prompted.

    • 5). Choose "Disk Utility" from the options shown in the "Utilities" drop down menu.

    • 6). Choose the "Restore" tab from the four choices provided in the Disk Utility application window. Click inside the "Source" text box and select "Macintosh HD" from the left window. Click inside the "Destination" text box and select the external hard drive connected previously.

    • 7). Click the "Restore" button and allow the iBook hard drive to be cloned to the external hard drive. Restart the iBook after the process is complete and eject the startup disk from the computer's CD or DVD-ROM drive.
