Choose a fragrant variety of tea, such as jasmine. It is best to use fresh tea bags, as they will have the strongest aroma remaining.

Fill a small bowl with an inch of sand or ash.

Hold the piece of charcoal with the tweezers. Light it with the lighter and then set it in the sand.

Break open the tea bags after the piece of charcoal and surrounding sand has heated. Sprinkle the tea bags over the charcoal and sand. Use at least two tea bags. You can use several more to increase the intensity of its aroma, if desired.

Clean out the used tea incense and add fresh incense before each use. Make sure the charcoal and bowl is cool before handling it.
