How to Refill a Brither Ink Cartridge

    • 1). Remove the Brother cartridge from the printer and place it on top of a few layers of paper towels. This will help in case of any ink spills.

    • 2). Hold the Brother cartridge so the protruding side of the cartridge faces you and locate the outlet hole on the back of the cartridge. Cover the outlet hole with a single piece of aluminum tape.

    • 3). Gently peel back the Brother label on the top of the cartridge to reveal the small refill hole.

    • 4). Insert the thumb drill into the refill hole and turn it clockwise to enlarge and further open the hole.

    • 5). Insert the tip of the syringe into the black replacement ink and pull back the plunger to fill it with 5 to 8 cc of ink.

    • 6). Insert the syringe into the enlarged refill hole and push the plunger to slowly release the ink. If ink begins to spill out from the Brother cartridge, stop injecting ink and slowly remove the syringe.

    • 7). Place a piece of aluminum tape firmly on top of the refill hole to seal it.

    • 8). Return the Brother cartridge to the printer and allow the ink to settle for six to eight hours. Run cleaning cycles before resuming regular printing with the cartridge.
