Steps to Help You Get the Best Signal From Your HDTV Antenna

An HDTV signal is more difficult to acquire than the analog one.
Your TV set reception can either be good or your TV will show nothing at all.
Read this article to get an idea on how to adjust your HDTV antenna for your TV viewing.
Determine TV station's antenna location The first thing that you need to do is to give your local TV station a call.
Then, ask them about the location of their broadcast antennas.
Reposition external antennas You now need to change or adjust the current position of your external antenna.
If your antenna is attached to your roof, remove the U-bolts that keep the antenna attached to the mast.
Then, point your antenna in the direction of the location of the TV station's broadcast antenna.
Have someone monitor your TV inside the house while you make small adjustments to your external antenna.
Refrain from shouting to each other, but use a phone to communicate, instead.
Ask your assistant to rescan for TV channels each time you reposition the antenna outside.
And finally, when you have acquired the channels you desired to have, tighten back the bolts to secure the antenna in that position.
Tweak the indoor antenna ears Raise the antenna ears as high as possible towards the ceiling.
And then, check your television if the channels are getting a good reception.
If not, continue readjusting the antenna ears by pointing them towards the window.
Move the TV set near the window The TV station's broadcast signal is strongest where there are no obstructions.
So, try moving your TV set near the window where it can get a direct signal from the broadcast mast.
Move antenna around the room Another way for you to determine which specific area in the room has the best TV reception is to carry the antenna and move it around the room.
While you are doing this, be sure to watch for the best reception from the TV.
Once you have determined the location for the best reception, transfer the TV set to that specific spot.
Transfer TV set to the highest floor The highest floor in the house provides the best reception for indoor TV antennas.
Thus, if your TV is not getting very good reception from the floor it is currently placed, transfer the TV set to a higher floor.
Take advantage of signal reflections If your TV set is located inside a room of the building that is opposite to the direction of the broadcast signal, you can also try taking advantage of the signal that reflects on the wall of the building across your window.
So, point the ears of your TV's antenna to that window.
Make sure that the co-axial cables are not kinked to less than three inches in radius.
