From the various books, stories and short poems that Sherrie Lynn has written, it is obvious that she has both voluntarily and sometimes involuntarily tried to shed herself into them. Having had a childhood that involved a lot of travel and changing environments, she had become accustomed to breathing in different scenarios which made her sensitive to emotions and relationships. The fact that she transitioned from becoming an educated journalist to a licensed pharmacy technician to an accomplished writer reveals her passion to seek more from the life and then pass it on through her writing.
Starting off by writing reports that saw her success as a writer, she moved onto writing poems. ‘The Ivory Key', ‘Quiet', ‘Remember Me' and ‘Momentum' are few of the very noticeable ones. Looking at her writing career it is obvious that she didn't stop there. Having experimented with essays, she finally moved onto writing some beautiful novels.
One of the first novels that she wrote Backstage Pass, The Jade Sheldon Story is a compelling story written around the main character – Jade Sheldon. The story revolves around the 19-year old main character whose life was completely changed after going on a first date with recording artist Reed Dion. After this date she finds herself in between two completely different worlds – the eminent world of the rich and famous and her own which is filled with struggles. A truly personal and rewarding novel engages the reader from the first page onwards.
The second book titled, ‘I'll Holler At You' is actually a collection of essays that are written on different topics and issues that are meaningful to the author and she hopes that they mean just as much to the readers as well. Again having a very personal touch, the author is just trying to get her personal opinion out from her chest and onto paper.
After this collection, Lynn just wanted to write one grand novel that transitions over different generations, times and locations. Filled with personal experiences, she actually wanted A Forward Motion to be an account of her parents and the struggle through the ‘Great Migration' and although it does contain the bits and pieces of that memorable period, the novel actually became a story about Crystal Alexander and her interracial romance with Julian. This coming-of-age story reveals how life actually involves moving forward on different levels.
This novel is formatted as a DVD having its own soundtrack which is available on her website. One can even catch hold of a documentary about this novel, some deleted scenes and a trailer. My Grandfathers House, Inside a Writer's Life and then her latest release An Author's View on Writing are all compassionate and personal accounts that are a must-grab. She is currently keen on selling A Forward Motion, which was taken quite well amongst the readers, as a screen adaptation.
