High School Drinking - Why it Should Be Taken Seriously

High school drinking is not just something that occurs after a prom, but often is a common weekend activity.
Teenagers are prone to a lot of dangers when under the influence of the alcohol.
Drinking can lead to poor judgment and a risk of doing things that are regretted later.
Over 87 percent of 9th-12th grade population has experienced drinking alcohol in one form or another.
There are some who tries it just for fun and others are doing it to escape problems and look cool among their peers.
There are a lot of students who starts drinking at age 14 and think it's okay because it's not a drug.
If one gets into a habit of binge drinking on the weekends, this can carry into college and one's adult life as this is how a habit gets formed.
Sadly, high school drinking pictures become something that is put on one's Facebook or myspace page to fit in.
Pictures of oneself holding a beer or other forms of alcohol beverages can also easily get passed around the school and even lead to a sports suspension.
Crimes such as rape or robberies can occur under the influence.
Often these are not publicized in order to protect the victim's identity and to keep them safe.
It is not only crimes that are associated with this problem but also early pregnancies, which are increasing each year.
Having sex while under the influence of alcohol is one of the most common causes of these pregnancies.
People are careless about protection, uninhibited and not making the best judgments.
High school students who are drinking can also be prone to accidents due to poor mental calculations.
A lot of mishaps happen when teenagers are partying.
The most common mishap is to be in a car accident due to impaired thinking and slowed reactions.
Parents can remind their kids that when drinking is involved, they may not remember part of an evening when inebriated,  vehicle accidents can occur including fatalities and health problems can emerge that are irreversible.
