- 1). Connect your network adapter. If you are using an ethernet adapter, make sure a CAT5E ethernet cable is connected to the LAN port on your laptop or desktop. Most new computers have wireless cards built in, but if you are using an external wireless card or USB adapter, make sure it is plugged into your machine properly and turned on.
- 2). Log onto your PC computer with an account that has administrative privileges.
- 3). Open the Start menu and click on "Control Panel."
- 4). Double-click on the icon labeled "Network Connections." A new window will open with a list of the network adapters available on your computer. In most cases, this will include an ethernet and wireless adapter.
- 5). Right-click on the network adapter you want to use and choose the "Enable" option.
- 6). Configure your wireless connection if necessary. Right-click on your wireless adapter's icon and select "View Wireless Network." Then highlight the network you want to use and hit "Connect."

- 3). Click on the "System Preferences" icon in the dock.
- 4). Go to the "Network" control panel under the "Internet & Wireless" heading.
- 5). Highlight the network adapter you want to use from the list on the left side of the window.
- 6). Click on the small gear icon and choose "Make Service Active."
- 7). Configure your wireless if necessary. Click on the "Airport" icon in the top menu bar and select the wireless network you want to access.
