Velvety Hash Brown Potatoes is the Perfect Side Dish for a Steak



This easy recipe for Velvety Hash Brown Potatoes is so delicious and rich. Serve it alongside a tender grilled steak or roasted chicken for a fabulous meal.

Ingredients
  • 1 (28 to 30 ounce) package frozen hash brown potatoes
  • 2 cups half and half light cream
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, cut into cubes
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1-1/2 cups shredded Havarti or Swiss cheese
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • Prep Time: 15 minutes
  • Cook Time: 80 minutes

  • Yield: 6 to 8 servings


Preparation

Preheat oven to 375°F. Place hash brown potatoes in a 13" x 9" casserole dish and set aside.

In medium saucepan, combine half and half cream with cream cheese. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently with a wire whisk, until cheese is melted and mixture is smooth. It will not be very thick. Remove from heat and stir in sour cream.

Pour over potatoes and stir to coat. Sprinkle the Havarti cheese over and stir to combine.

Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.

Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Then uncover and stir, incorporating the browned edges into the potatoes. Bake, uncovered, for another 15 minutes, then stir again. Bake for another 10 to 15 minutes or until bubbly and hot.
