DIY Guide to Polishing Concrete

    • 1). Fit yourself with a pair of work gloves, earplugs, a face mask and goggles.

    • 2). Attach course sandpaper to the floor sander, then position it in the center of the room and begin sanding the floor with short, circular strokes. Slowly work your way from the center of the room out to the edges.

    • 3). Sweep up concrete dust from the floor with a push broom, then remove the course sandpaper from the floor sander and replace it with fine-grit paper. Sand down the floor in the same manner as before to give the concrete a final smoothing.

    • 4). Sweep up concrete dust, then vacuum up finer particles to prepare the floor for the polishing wax.

    • 5). Pour a concrete polish/wax into a paint tray, then apply it an in single even coat to the concrete floor with a trim pad. Wait for the polish/wax to dry, then apply two additional coats. Be sure to allow each coat to dry before applying the next coat.

    • 6). Fit the floor buffer with a polishing cloth, then buff the concrete with short, circular movements.
