Being overweight basically means having more body fat than is healthy for you.
People are conscious about their weight regardless of being over weight or not.
Weight is a serious issue because it determines the health of a person.
However, certain diseases and medical conditions can make it difficult for the body to tolerate even a moderate fat.
Fat free dieting may help people with these conditions and has proven to successfully achieve weight loss in other cases as well.
For a standard healthy diet, it is suggested that 30% of the total calories eaten should comprise of fat.
Fat free dieting should be well balanced and well planned.
It is better to keep fresh fruits and vegetables available at all times.
To begin with it is better to keep it simple and to monitor the calories.
Some specifics that you need to take into consideration when looking to go on a fat free diet are as follows: o Chew and eat your foods slowly.
o Select healthy food like fruits, vegetables, low fat meats, and fish and avoid dairy products.
o Abstain from taking food with high fat and calories.
o Avoid pastries, candy bars, pies and other bakery stuff with sugar and butter.
If possible consult a nutritionist to provide you with a healthy and effective fat free dieting plan.
It is better to consume 4-5 small meals a day than to avoid food at all.
Fruit and vegetable salads are an excellent choice as they are rich in fiber and have little or no fat.
A minute amount of olive oil and vinegar or lemon can be used as salad dressing with little spices.
Some of the varieties of foods that can be consumed in fat free dieting include high quantity of fish and chicken breasts as white meat has less fat in comparison to red meat.
Whole grain or bran breads are better than white whole wheat breads, and should be consumed at least once a day perhaps in breakfast.
Fruits such as apples, oranges, apricots and pomegranate are healthy fat free choices, and in vegetables it is safe to consume cauliflower, carrots, celery and broccoli.
Avoid potatoes as they are quite rich in fat.
Supplementary foods are available such as diet sodas and diet cottage cheese.
These have fat in them, perhaps not as much as actual sodas or cheese but it is present in lesser quantity.
Diet chocolates and ice creams are also available in the market.
However a great misconception with these diet items lead people into a false sense of security.
These products do not use sugar; rather they use Aspartame, a supplement sweetener, along with the regular ingredients of cream butter and other dairy products.
You may wonder why they are still known as diet foods.
Well, this is because they are basically meant for diabetics who are required to avoid sugar but not dairy foods.
Fat free dieting means to diminish the amount of fat consumed in daily intake of food.
However this does not mean that the food you will consume is going to be without fat.
There is no food available except perhaps water and sugar that does not have fat in it.
Fat free basically means minimum fats in a food and these are the types of foods on which your daily diet needs to be based.
