- If your Kenmore washer is leaking water, see if the washer is level. If not, adjust the leveling legs, or repair the flooring beneath the washing machine. Do not overload the washing machine, as this can cause water to bounce off of the load onto the floor. If the washing machine is over-sudsing, drain the current load. Only use the correct amount of detergent for the load. Certain Kenmore model washing machines require high-efficiency detergent.
- If your washing machine is leaking all of the time, check the main tub seal, which is located in the outer tub. Disconnect the washing machine from the power source, and remove the main housing. Examine the seal, and see if it's torn or brittle. Pry it out with a crowbar, and get a new one from a Kenmore parts dealer. You usually can't fix this part. If you see water leaking from the center of the washing machine, check the center post. This part can rust out over time, causing your Kenmore washing machine to leak. Replace the post if it's defective.
- Water near the back of the machine usually means that you have an issue with the hoses or the connections. Examine your inlet and drain hoses. If any of these hoses are split or punctured, either repair or replace these hoses. Tighten the connections if they are loose. See if the hoses or your home's drain are clogged with debris, which can cause water backups. Clean out these items if necessary. If your household plumbing is clogged, clean it with plumbing products or tools, or contact a licensed plumber.
- If your Kenmore washing machine leaks when the tub is filled, check the pump. The pump has hoses connected to it, which can also leak. If any of these components are breaking, replace them. You usually can't repair a leaking pump. The water inlet valve connects to both the inlet hoses and the washing machine. This part can leak as it wears out. If it is leaking, get a new one, since it's very difficult to fix the water inlet valve.
