11 Tips For Growing Organic Roses

More and more people are joining the organic bandwagon. From organic fruits to organic meat, people are exploring new realms of organic farming. But have you ever wondered if roses can also be grown organically? The answer is yes. People who are worried about the increasing use of pesticides now have an alternative route to plant roses in their garden.

Here is a step by step detailed guide to help you plant your roses the organic way:

1.The first step is to identify proper spacing for each bush. Ideally, one foot spacing is enough for air circulation and helps prevent leaf diseases also.

2.Next step is to purchase organic rose varieties. You can select roses having a well-built green stem devoid of any blemishes. Most bare root varieties will serve the cause well.

3.Next step involves preparing well drained soil. This helps promote rose's healthy growth by providing the flower with all the necessary nutrients and water. The organic content of the soil can be determined using simple instruments available with your local gardening store. Ensure optimum organic levels before planting roses.

4.The bare root roses must be soaked in compost tea prior to planting. Collect some compost tea in a large container and place the roses alongside the tea.

5.Make a mound of organic soil mixed with compost (in equal quantities) right in the middle of the pot. This way you can evenly spread out the roots.

6.Proceed to plant the rose at soil level, where the stem is broken down into the root or at least 1 inch beneath the highest level.

7.Firstly thoroughly check the bare root roses. Cut down a fine straight slice from its four sides if the root grows out in a rigid circle. Now make a hole at least 2 inches deeper than the depth of the pot.

8.Use your hands to mix the organic soil with an equivalent amount of compost and plant the roots into the soil mixture.

9.Feed your roses with organic fertilizers and maintain a consistent watering schedule. To promote deep roots, water your organic roses carefully during the initial planting period.

10.Cultivate the top inch of your soil around the roses and feed it good organic fertilizer on a monthly basis. Apart from fertilizers you can also use a fish-based emulsion product that is soluble in water. Also, prior to purchasing fertilizers ensure that it has optimum content of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, iron and calcium.

11.To guard the soil against various pests and insects that can infect your roses, put sticky yellow colored bars at every ten feet. Organic pesticides can also be used to handle insect/pests issue. In worst cases, insecticidal soap has to be sprayed over your roses.

This is enough comprehensive knowledge for you start growing organic, earth-friendly roses in garden. Organic roses are known to have the best color and immune system and nothing beats their genuine fragrance.
