- The minimum age to work in agriculture is 14. However, children may work on the same farm as their parent or guardian at the age of 12, and they may work as hand-harvest labor as young as 10 or 11; however, children who work as hand-harvest labor may not do so for more than 8 weeks a year.
- Any job that is considered non-hazardous and non-agriculture has a minimum age of 16 to be employed. Certain jobs are classified as hazardous (such as mining and logging) and have a minimum age of 18 to work.
- Federal child labor laws are only a minimum for the regulation of child labor laws. Thus, individual states may choose to increase the age limits and regulations for child labor.
