- There are unlimited restrictions on the employment of 16- and 17-year-olds. However, the Secretary of Labor can declare certain occupations hazardous. This could involve using equipment during certain job duties that are considered to be dangerous to the child.
- During the school year, the employment of 14- and 15-year-olds can involve many different regulations. Employees in this age group can work no more than three hours per day and their hours of employment can not exceed 7 p.m. When school is out, it is a weekend or holiday, employees in this group can work no more than eight hours per day, while the maximum time they can work until is 9 p.m.
- Those children who parents own a business are allowed to work for that business at any age. Provided, that their parents are the majority owners of the business.
- Any job that is determined to be hazardous by the Secretary of State is not allowed to be performed by any employee under the age of 18.
- Any child who is involved in the delivery of newspapers or is an actor is exempt for the provisions of the act.
