- 1). Assemble the syringe for the ink using the instructions provided in the ink refill kit.
- 2). Determine the type of ink cartridge used on the printer you will be refilling. While most brands have Sponge-filled Cartridges, HP tends to also have Vacuum Retained Cartridges, as well. If the refill kit does not tell you what kind of cartridge you have, contact HP support to find out.
- 3). Drill a hole at the top of the cartridge using a drill. Any drill bit should work.
- 4). Place the ink cartridge on top of a paper towel.
- 5). Extract the ink from the vial, using the syringe.
- 6). Inject the ink into the hole you created with the drill. Be sure to inject the ink as slowly as you can, to avoid making air bubbles. If you do not have a Vacuum Retained Cartridge, your task is done. Otherwise, proceed to the next step.
- 7). Squeeze the ink cartridge to create the vacuum for the cartridge.
- 8). Seal the cartridge hole with the glue gun.
- 9). Turn the ink cartridge upside down. You'll know when the cartridge is fully sealed when only a few drops of ink fall out.
