Things You'll Need
Instructions
1Organize your tools into groups of similar items. Select the tools you use frequently to put on the pegboard. Put the remaining tools neatly back into drawers and toolboxes.
2
Decide where you want each group of tools to hang on your pegboard. Place the most frequently used items, such as hammers and screwdrivers, in the center of the board at eye level.
3
Buy pegboard hooks and accessories at your local home improvement store. You can hang tools with holes in the handle on a hook, and place smaller items on shelves, or you can hang them in storage containers on the board.
4
Hang hooks on the pegboard. Space the hooks to accommodate for the various sizes of the tools. Hang tools on hooks, one tool per hook. Attach hooks in pairs, high and off to the side, to hold rakes, shovels and brooms. Place the head of the item on top of two hooks and let the handle hang down.
5
Place small items such as screws in zippered pencil cases that have grommets along one edge. Clear vinyl works best. Hang the pencil case on the pegboard by placing each hole on a hook.
6
Attach shelves up high for bottles of glue or cleaners. Buy a pegboard shelf or make your own. Drill a 3/16 inch diameter hole near each end of a 10-inch long 1-by-4-inch board. Make sure to get the hole 1-1/2 inches deep. Push a short straight hook into the board and hang it on the pegboard.
