It's a passing of an Era for the Music Industry here in the Philippines.
It's a sad night yesterday for all avid listeners of DWNU107 popularly known as NU107 Home of NU Rock as it airs for the very last time.
Crowd pay respect for the radio station that played all kinds or rock music, from alternative music and modern rock, to metal and Pinoy rock for the past 23 years.
Music can be heard in Emerald Avenue, Ortigas as speakers set outside the radio station to accommodate the large crowd composed of Musicians and supporters.
Current and former DJs of NU107 recounts their fondest memory of the station.
Emotions are high and tears inevitably falls during each DJ turns to say their final message and thanks to the fans and supporters.
During the infamous "In the Raw" program hosted by former guitarist of The Dawn Francis Brew (Francis Reyes) where amateur bands exhibit their music.
Instead of new breed of bands, the program has Urbandub and Itchyworms, both respected and famous in their own right play live music for the avid listeners.
Others that cannot go to the venue of the radio station tuned in to the live streaming in their website and their Facebook fan page is flooded by thanks and disbelief on what's happening to their favorite radio station.
As the time goes near the end, the DJs played famous OPM Rock songs of bands like Wolfgang, Sandwich, and Eraserheads.
For every song that they play the crowd sings along with it and shouts the name of the radio station and wanting for more.
The last to take the microphone was NU107 station manager, Chris Hermosisima.
He thanked God, his family, Atom Henares the station's Big Boss and the fans and listeners who stayed there until the end and reminded them to disperse quietly.
The final minutes of the airtime, NU107 played the most significant song that really solidifies that moment, "Huling El Bimbo" by the Eraserheads.
The crowd lit candles, lighters and some raise their hands as the song plays.
Some of them cry as they sing along with the song, but no one can blame them, the radio station that plays their favorite rock, alternative, reggae, metal song for 23 years will bid farewell and with no signs of coming back to the airwaves.
After the Philippine National Anthem DWNU 107.
5 Home of NU Rock officially signed off at 12: 05 am.
