- According to Diovan's website (www.diovan.com), hypotension or low blood pressure can occur if taking the medication with water pills. Risk for low blood pressure rises if you are on a low-salt diet, have heart problems or receive dialysis treatments.
- Existing kidney problems may get worse from taking Diovan. Edema or swelling in the body is one of the first signs of experiencing kidney problems. Your doctor may need to lower your dose or prescribe different blood pressure medication.
- Headaches are one of the most common side effects from taking the medication.
- Flu-like symptoms are characterized as muscle aches, fatigue, low energy or chills. These side effects are usually mild and go away after a few days. Contact your doctor if your flu-like symptoms do not go away on their own.
- Dizziness can be its own side effect or caused by hypotension.
- Digestive problems may include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting or stomach pains.
