Google AdWords- What is Google AdWords? For those of you who are new to internet marketing, Google AdWords is a paid advertisement for your website on Google.
The beauty of AdWords is their paid advertisements look very similar to their non-paid advertisements.
Google AdWords was set up for website developers so it can be a little tricky, but don't get confused by all the techie jargon and follow these simple steps.
1)Content is King- When setting up your first ad you should remember that Google rewards advertisers for well written ads that are attracting clicks.
So this means you should use your targeted keywords within your Google Ad.
For example, my Google ad one of my keywords is website.
Here is one of my ads "Working Business Websites Let your website do the work! Get Free Insider Tips.
" Notice how I used the word website two times within my ad.
2)Split Testing- Google allows you to write multiple ads for one campaign and see which one is the most successful.
This is a great feature and a lot of advertisers are not taking advantage of it.
Test it for a few weeks and then just delete the one that is not working as well.
3)Going Local- If you're a local business you can get a significant leg up on your competition if you start using Adwords.
Your ad can be specifically set up to target your specific location.
Let me show you an example.
I live in Houston so I could create a campaign that would only target Houston and the surrounding areas.
So then if someone searched for websites and lived in Houston there my ad would be: "Houston Website Developer".
This is most effective with local businesses such as doctors, dance studios, restaurants (you get the idea!).
4)Where does your ad go?- If you want your ad to be successful don't just take them to your website homepage.
Take them to what they are looking for.
Whether it's your newsletter sign-up page or a product you're selling.
Don't make them search for the information or they will happily click away.
5)How much does it cost? - Now, the cost of AdWords is all up to your budget.
Also, it depends on how saturated your market is.
Remember to set a daily budget you can afford.
Google will show you how much the minimum bid is for your keywords so use this tool to your advantage.
6)Tracking in NOT an option- In order to not be effective with AdWords and not lose a lot of money you will need to track your ads effectiveness.
Google has a tracking tool built and Oneshoppingcart has an ad tracker tool you can add to your different ads.
These tools will help you track how many people are buying or subscribing to your newsletter.
