- 1). Consult the manufacturer's literature delivered with your camper to confirm the usual wiring color-codes apply. The hot wire from a camper's 12 volt system will typically be red; the ground wire to the camper's 12 volt neutral system will typically be black or blue; the supply wire to the camper's compressor will typically be yellow; the supply wire to the camper's furnace or electric heater will typically be white and the supply wire to the camper's blower fan will typically be green.
- 2). Remove the case of the old thermostat by removing any fasteners and then drawing the cover away from the wall.
- 3). Use your screwdriver first to detach each color-coded wire one at a time from its terminal inside the old thermostat, then attach each wire again one at a time to the appropriate terminal inside the new thermostat. Terminal #01 is usually ground; terminal #02 is usually unused; terminal #03 is usually hot; terminal #04 is usually unused; terminal #05 is usually AC compressor; terminal #06 is usually AC high fan speed; terminal #07 is usually AC low fan speed; terminal #08 is usually furnace. Confirm the connections remain correct by consulting your literature supplied with the new thermostat.
- 4). Unscrew the old thermostat from the wall and dispose of it. Screw the new thermostat in its place, and clip the case of the new thermostat into location.
