How to Fix Information on a Dunn & Bradstreet Credit Report Without Paying

    Your D-U-N-S Number

    • 1). Contact Dun & Bradstreet to obtain your D-U-N-S Number. You can do this either by Internet or phone. D&B has assigned a D-U-N-S number to all businesses they know about. They find out about a business because someone has asked about the business or someone has reported information to them about the business. If D&B has not assigned a D-U-N-S number to your business, they can do so once you request it of them.

    • 2). Get a copy of all the reports D&B has on your company. D&B might not have ever contacted your company to do a report, so they might actually have more than one report on your firm at your address. It might be best to review all the reports D&B has on your company to make sure they have all the information to show your firm in the best light to suppliers and potential suppliers

    • 3). Review all the information on the report(s). If there is something incorrect, you need to contact D&B to get it corrected. D&B wants to get it right because they are in the business of selling information, and they want the information to be correct.

    • 4). Make the corrections on the D&B website. You can use their website to input the correct information about your company. You must also follow their terms of use.

D&B allows you to update as much, or as little, of the report on your company as you wish to ensure the information is correct. However, you cannot change supplier information, but you can input or update financial information, employee and building location(s) and information on your company to correct historical inaccuracies.

    • 5). Make sure your corrected information has been updated. Follow up in a couple of days to make sure the information you updated on the D&B website has made it to the report. The access they give you to update your report allows you to do this for a limited time.
