"Mini poppies" and "Red Dawn" by Elena Rymova

From the Artist: I've heard people say that painting poppies is kitsch because everybody does it. Personally I think it's nonsense what they said, so I painted some. (To think artists have always painted lots of roses so saying poppies are kitsch just because everybody does it is wrong.) I almost don't use green in my paintings, but decided to put some here.

And the dawn is a mini version of a big one I did on a 50x70 cm canvas.

Of course they look a bit different from each other, but smaller version seems more cheerful and promising, whereas a big one being all red gives some sense of pressure and clouds are darker. Sun is hiding behind all the clouds on the horizon, but when it comes out the clouds will be already gone.
