Pick 10 or so words related to babies and scramble the letters. Photocopy the scrambled words on a sheet of paper for each party attendee. Give a time limit of about 5 minutes for each person to try to unscramble the words. Here is a sample of 20 words to get you started (some easy, some hard). Printing tip, save the web page on your hard disk, then print it out. It will be much faster than printing directly from the web.

Baby Bottle Candy Guessing Game

Updated June 27, 2014.

Fill a baby bottle with little jelly beans (or other small candy). Show the attendees the baby bottle and have them guess how many beans are in the baby bottle. How about picking the mom's favorite small candy to use to fill?

Who is that baby?

Prior to the baby shower, have your adult guests supply you with baby pictures of themselves. Place them on a poster board, and then at the party, have the guests guess who's who! It's good to have several small prizes, as you are likely to have more than one "winner." This game works well where you have a large group, ideally 10-20 photos. Some photos are easy to match to their adult owners, but it's surprising how tough some matches can be.

I've done this one at several showers, and it was always a hit. Gets people to talking about their childhood!
Word of warning. Start well in advance gathering photos. Otherwise, people will forget to bring them, and you will be "gameless" at the party. Let me know what you think of this idea.

Nursery Rhymes

Updated June 27, 2014.

The first game is called "Nursery Rhymes." On a piece of paper type one line from a nursery rhyme that is not easy to recognize. You can do several on page and whoever guesses the most rhymes wins. (i.e. like a diamond = twinkle little star or to see such sport= hey diddle diddle).

Needle in the Haystack

Ttake a small bowl and fill it 3/4 full of long thin white rice, then add one package of very tiny safety pins( the little gold ones work best). Blindfold the player , then tell them to try and find as many safety pins as possible in 2 minutes. It looks simple, but is extremely hard. quite hilarious to watch as they go digging through the rice trying to find a safety pin. They will be lucky to even find 1 safety pin.

Whoever finds the most wins!

Bottoms Up!

Updated June 27, 2014.

At my baby shower, we had 6-8 volunteers. We sat them down and gave each of them a baby bottle half-full of some drink. Whomever finished first won.

Pass around a ball of string and a pair of scissors. Each party member cuts off a piece of string guessing the length to fit around the Mother's middle. Mom tries on each string. The person with the closest length wins a prize. Meanwhile, Mom gets to show off her proud tummy! Some showers use toilet paper instead of string, ribbon would work well, too.
Another variation on this game is to use toilet paper instead of string and have each member guess the number of squares of paper it will take to go around the Mother's tummy!

Another idea is to hang up a clothes line and have people take turns to see who can hang the clothes while balancing a doll on their hip, the fastest.

Come up with a list of words that pertain to pregnancy, birth and babies. find a candy that goes with that word. Bring out the candy on a platter. Have everyone guess the word that goes with that candy. The one with the most right wins.
Examples:
  • Twizzlers = umbilical cord
  • 100 Grand = hospital bill
  • Whoppers = contractions

Here is any easy game that some of you might have played at a baby shower but for those that haven't it might be fun. Just play baby drawing games. Using baby things as the words to guess, split up into 2 teams. One person from each team draws while the other try to guess the word.
