- 1). Remove the doors and cabinet hardware from your cabinets. Wash all surfaces of the cabinets with a mild soap-and-water solution to remove dust, dirt and grease. Dry the cabinets thoroughly before applying glaze.
- 2). Pour paint and glaze into a plastic mixing container. Use 3 parts black paint to 1 part glaze for an intense look. Adjust the measurements depending on the appearance you are trying to achieve. Stir the mixture with a wooden paint stirrer.
- 3). Wipe the glaze on the cabinets with a rag. Rub the glaze into the wood. Use a small paintbrush to get into ridges of trim and moldings, if necessary, to accentuate details. Work on small sections at a time so the glaze doesn’t dry before you are able to wipe it off.
- 4). Wipe the glaze off with a clean rag, leaving the intensity you prefer. Continue with all sections of the cabinets.
- 5). Replace the cabinet doors when the glaze is dry. Reattach hardware to the cabinets.
