How to Troubleshoot the AudioBahn A8002T

    • 1). Turn the ignition half way, so the battery is engaged but the engine is not running. Attempt normal operation; for example turn on the radio or put a CD into the CD player. If the display on the radio is on or the CD is spinning, but there is no sound coming from the speakers, the problem is likely to be located in the power section of the amplifier. If there is some sound, but it is poor quality, low in volume or intermittently dipping, the power section is working. The problem is located between the power section of the Audiobahn A8002T and the output stage.

    • 2). Turn on the ignition fully and leave the car running for 20 to 30 minutes. Turning the ignition fully on prevents the car battery wearing down. The Audiobahn A8002T is equipped with an air induction cooling unit to prevent overheating. If this is faulty, the amplifier will overheat and cut out. If your amplifier is operating normally for the a brief period before cutting out, this is a possible cause.

    • 3). Turn the engine fully off. Remove the keys.

    • 4). Pull back the carpet in the trunk to expose the amplifier and mounting bracket. Remove the screws attaching the Audiobahn A8002T to the bracket and gently place the amplifier on the floor of the trunk. The connected speaker wires are typically long enough to permit a partial removal.

    • 5). Unplug all disconnected speaker, power and remote cables. These are not hardwired to the amplifier, so simply remove them from their socket. Tape the cables to the wall of the trunk to keep them out of the way.

    • 6). Use a small Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws on the side of the amp, these anchor the lid of the chassis to the base. Carefully remove the lid to expose the circuit board.

    • 7). Replace the two 30-amp fuses. This will help determine whether power failure is being caused by a fuse blowout. If either of these fuses have a brown discoloration, this is a sure sign that they have blown due to a power surge.

Reattach the power cable. Turn the ignition on half way. Locate the first resistor by following the signal chain from main power intake to the first resistor, which is a cylindrical component mounted on the circuit board. Set your voltmeter to "Resistance" and press it against the first resistor. If the reading is zero, this indicates a blown resistor.
