This “wholesale” mall on Petchburi Road is much like an outdoor market, except for the air conditioning and clean bathrooms. You’ll find plenty of clothes, shoes and accessories at great prices.
Quick Strategies:
- Buy in bulk. All vendors cut prices substantially if you buy more than three items at a time. Usually they'll let you mix and match as long as you're buying the same type of thing.
- Compare prices. Many of the things you find will be available at more than one stall so it’s worth your time to compare before you buy.
What to Buy:
Clothing for women, men and children, accessories, and shoes are most of what you'll find here. Though vendors sell in large quantities, there are lots of creative, interesting and fun things for sale.
Bargaining:
If you are buying in dozens of pieces, you may get some additional discount but prices are generally clearly marked and vendors stick to them.
Taking a Break:
There's a food court on the top floor with plenty of stalls selling Thai, Japanese and other food. On the ground floor there's a coffee shop and a yogurt shop.
How to Get There:
The closest skytrain stop is Chitlom but from there it's a 15 minute walk to the mall. You can also take the canal boat, which stops one block away from Platinum Mall.
Hours:
The mall is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily but some stalls close early.
