- Honda's CR250R is a motorcross bike that has been ridden to American Motorcyclist Association championships. Honda gave the motorcycle a new aluminum frame for the 2002 model year. For the 2003 model year, Honda made modifications to the CR250R's engine, frame and suspension to improve power and enhance handling.
- The 2003 CR250R had a liquid-cooled 249 cc single-cylinder two-stroke engine. Bore and stroke were 2.6 inches by 2.8 inches and an 8.5-to-1 compression ratio. A 38 mm Mikuni carburetor delivered the fuel-air mixture to the engine. Changes to the engine for 2003 included a new cylinder, valves and ignition timing. The changes didn't affect overall power, but did increase low rpm output. The CR250R had a five-speed transmission with chain final drive system.
- A single 9.4-inch disc with two-piston caliper and a single rear 9.4-inch disc provided braking power. The inverted, adjustable 47 mm Showa front fork and adjustable single rear shock handled suspension. For 2003, Honda increased the compression on both front and rear suspension, giving the CR250R a firmer feel.
- The 2003 Honda CR250R had a twin-spar aluminum frame. The combination of the dense foam seat and the layout of foot pegs and controls resulted in a comfortable ride. Ground clearance on the CR250R was 13.6 inches, seat height was 37 inches and the wheelbase was 58.7 inches. The dry weight of the motocross bike was 213 pounds and it held 2 gallons of fuel. For 2003, Honda offered the CR250R in red.
