There are many doctors around the country who specialize in many different fields. If you are an extremely healthy individual then you may only need to see your regular family doctor once or twice a year for standard check-up, but if you have any other needs then you may see someone for your back, eyes, foot, etc. Sally McFarland is proud to be a doctor who specializes in internal medicine. She has been practicing internal medicine since she became board certified.
Like every doctor Sally McFarland started her career as a student. First she earned her bachelor's degree studying biology from the University of Virginia. She successfully graduated with her BA in 1979 and continued her educational career by studying at the University of Virginia's School of Medicine where she graduated in 1984. Sally McFarland then performed her internship and residency at Montefiore Hospital, an affiliate of the University of Pittsburgh, located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Sally McFarland became board certified in internal medicine in 1987 and has been working as a Doctor of Internal Medicine since. In 1994, Sally McFarland became a member of the Medical Society of Northern Virginia. The society joins many doctors from many specialties together and provides both educational and business resources for the doctors. The society also provides a support group for doctors as well as ensuring that doctors all adhere to a professional standard and ethics.
Sally McFarland has had many successes and has been a doctor for over two decades. She is extremely knowledgeable in her field and is determined to provide her patients with the best care possible. Besides being a competent doctor, Sally McFarland wants her patients to view her as a very caring and personable doctor. She wants patients to know that she cares about each of them as a whole individual.
This view on how she should treat her patients lead to Sally McFarland's public recognition in Virginia. In 2009, Sally McFarland was named one of Northern Virginia Magazine's Best Doctors. Sally McFarland knows that people appreciate it when doctors treat them as people and not just a series of symptoms, and she really enjoys her work. Another point of pride besides fulfilling her goal of helping people came on September 1, 2011 when Sally McFarland successfully opened her own internal medicine practice in Fairfax, Virginia.
