Fill your coffee pot with a mixture of half white vinegar and half water. Pour it into the water container and run through the machine. If you can run a narrow bottle brush down the water tube, you can dislodge a lot of caked on coffee oil and sediment. Discard the dirty water and continue this process until the water in the carafe is clear. Run several clear water containers through to remove all traces of vinegar.

Mix a solution of vinegar and baking soda to the consistency of loose paste; place it on the grimy area inside the pot and rub. Rinse and continue this until the pot is transparent once again.

Mix lemon juice and salt to make a paste. Use this paste to scrub stains away. Or, make a paste of borax and water and scrub stains with it. Allow either paste to sit for an hour or so before scrubbing the pot. After all the stains are gone, rinse well.
