Top 6 Tips To Get Rid Of Dry Skin Through Winter

Just as you put on an extra layer of clothing to protect yourself for the winter chill, you need too pay special attention to your skin during the cold winter months.
Winter makes the skin dry because of the dry air and cold winds.
Make sure you change your skincare routine for winter to help your skin retain its moisture.
Here are some tips to help relieve dry skin: 1.
Change your moisturizer.
Use a thick, nourishing oil based moisturizer instead of water based.
Water based is perfect for summer when it is sweaty because it is a light weight formula.
But for winter, you need an oil based moisturizer to provide a thick layer of protection over your face and body.
However, be careful when choosing a moisturizer for your face make sure you chose non clogging oils like primrose oil or almond oil.
You can choose the moisturizer with Shea butter for skin; it is best to avoid such product for face as Shea butter is known to clog pores.
2.
Add oil to your moisturizer.
In winter sometimes using your daily moisturizer is not enough moisture and you might still feel dry.
Try adding baby oil or essential oils such as almond and rose hip oil to your moisturizers for added moisture and protection to the skin.
You can even add these oils around your eye area.
3.
Protect your delicate hands.
Your hands are most hurt by the winter chill.
So use gloves when you go out, but if wool gloves irritate your skin wear a cotton one first and then slip on the wool one.
Also, moisturize your hands before going out and after washing your hands.
Use a protection cream to act as a barrier on your hands.
Always carry a thick hand cream in your handbag as you can get dry hands while you are out in the winter cold.
4.
Prevent your heels getting cracked.
Cracked heels are another problem that causes us trouble during winter.
Again, your summer foot cream may not be that effective during winter.
Go for those creams that have glycerin or petroleum jelly.
Also slough off the dead skin cells on the heels of your foot regularly.
If you can't go to the beauty salons, soak your feet in water and use a pumice stone at home.
It will help the skin in the foot to absorb the moisture better.
Or try putting moisturizer on with socks over the top! 5.
Use a mask on your skin once a week.
Applying a mask regularly is very beneficial to the skin.
You don't need to get an expensive facial from a beauty salon to feel the effects of a facial mask.
You can give yourself a mini facial from the comfort of your own home.
Cleanse and exfoliate with a gentle exfoliator.
Mix warm honey in a bowl with one egg yolk and one tablespoon of olive oil, blend nicely.
Lay down and lather this mixture to your skin, leave on for 20 minutes.
Apply moisturizer once you have washed it off.
6.
Wear sunscreen on your face everyday.
Don't forget to put on sunscreen while going out as the sun's rays are still dangerous for your skin even if it doesn't feel warm the sun can still do a lot of damage to the skin.
It's important to follow these dry skin tips to prevent dry skin during the winter and relieve any pain or discomfort that comes with dry skin!
