- Introduced in 1985, the 2003 model of the Nissan Sentra compact sedan included a new limited edition trim with a 2.5L engine. It was built in Aguascalientes, Mexico and was the first gasoline-powered vehicle to receive the Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle rating from the California Air Resources Board.
- The least expensive XE trim had a 1.8L, 126-horsepower internal-four engine with a standard five-speed manual overdrive transmission and optional four-speed automatic overdrive. Its fuel economy was 29 miles per gallon in the city and 35 or 36 on the highway. This four-door vehicle measured 177.5 inches long by 67.3 inches wide by 55.5 inches high, with a wheelbase of 99.8 inches and a curb weight of 2,537 lbs. in manual and 2,581 lbs. in automatic. The car seated five with front measurements of 39.9 inches for headroom, 41.6 inches for legroom, 52.5 inches for shoulder room and 52.1 inches for hip room. Rear dimensions were 37 inches for headroom, 33.7 inches for legroom, 52.6 inches for shoulder room and 52.3 inches for hip room.
- The mid-range SE-R version used a 2.5L, 165-horsepower, internal-four engine with a standard five-speed manual overdrive transmission and optional four-speed automatic overdrive. Its fuel economy was 23 or 24 in the city, and 24 or 29 on the highway. It had the same interior and exterior measurements as the XE but with a curb weight of 2,712 lbs. in manual and 2,759 in automatic.
- The most expensive trim used a 2.5L, 175-horsepower, internal-four engine with a six-speed manual overdrive transmission. This gave it a fuel economy of 23 in the city and 29 on the highway. Exterior and interior measurements were identical with the other trim lines, though with a curb weight of 2,708 lbs. Some of the amenities this model shared with the SE-R version were cruise control and tachometer, radio with CD player and subwoofer, rear spoiler and alloy wheels, power windows and power adjustable exterior mirror, fog lights and interval wipers.
