The hardest part about dealing with these bugs is coming to terms with the fact that you have them.
I know, it's terrible! After figuring out why you and your family are itching, learning how to kill bed bugs is simple.
There are 3 steps that you can take to get rid of these little pests and prevent their return.
Step 1: Clean Your Bedroom...
Thoroughly Just like the title says.
This means vacuum every surface that you have, including your bed, all carpets, all furniture, curtains, and anywhere else that has fabric.
The bugs love fabric.
As you are cleaning, be sure to keep an eye out for red specks.
These are blood spots, feces, or even the dead bugs themselves.
Be sure to cover your mattress with a hypoallergenic mattress cover.
Step 2: Bug Sprays There are really good bug sprays that will immediately kill on contact and many have residual effects.
Pesticides that contain Deltamethrin or Hydropene are great because they are safe for humans and most pets.
But, if you have pet fish, be careful.
These chemicals could hurt them.
Step 3: Prevent Further Infestation The last step is to stunt their ability to reproduce.
One of the best ways to do that is to use bed bug powder.
While sprays can kill the insects you find instantly, the powders are contact killers.
Meaning, that when a bed bug comes in contact with this powder, it actually cuts them even if their hiding.
The benefit of this powder is that it is usually safe to humans and pets.
Please read the directions before applying! Be sure to stay vigilant after you have completed all of these steps.
The little vampires are very persistent and don't give up easily.
With good maintenance and a firm hand, you can have a clean and bug free home.
