How to Make Gel Scents

Things You'll Need

Instructions

1

Make sure your jars are clean and dry. Glue whatever you, or any children who may be helping, want onto the jars depending on how decorative the jar(s) are you are working with.
2

Read the back of the gelatin package. Use the scented liquid potpourri oil instead of the water and in the same amount. Pour the oil and gelatin into the small sauce pan and turn the stove onto low heat. You do not want the mixture to get hot, you only want to get it warm enough to completely dissolve the unflavored gelatin.
3

Remove the pan of warm potpourri oil and dissolved gelatin from the stove and pour the liquid into a measuring cup so it can be poured into the decorative, or other jars more easily. (If children are helping let the liquid cool completely first). Carefully fill the jars.
4

Cut a strip of lace long enough to glue or tie around the top of each gel scent. Then cut a piece of material long enough to fit over the edge of the and glue the lace around the top of the jar to hold the cover in place. Purchase or use material that has a large weave so the scent can permeate a room, or even a dresser drawer. You can also choose to cover the top with a lace hankie or doily.
5

Decorate the jars to fit any occasion, personality or room decor. Many second hand stores, garage sales and craft stores have jars you might like. Children can make gel scents for family birthdays. This is also an excellant way to do something together with your children or a club or Scout troop.
