- A very rare but dangerous side effect is the breakdown of muscle tissue. This can lead to kidney failure. You should contact your doctor right away if you have flu or fever symptoms, muscle weakness or pain or urine that is dark in color.
- Some patients have reported gas, mild stomach pain, nausea, constipation and diarrhea.
- Allergic reactions have been reported by patients who are taking Zocor. If you suspect a reaction contact your doctor right away.
- Other side effects that have been reported are headaches, blurred vision and heartburn. These side effects usually lessen after the body adjusts to the medication.
- Women of childbearing age should not take Zocor unless they are very sure they will not be getting pregnant. Alcohol should also be avoided when taking this medication. You should also avoid Zocor if you have an underactive thyroid, diabetes or kidney disease.
